The 2021 Hong Kong Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades took place across 3 floors in Pedder Building, a renowned and historical landmark in the heart of Central Hong Kong; the ground floor transformed into a souvenir shop and the two upper floors an interactive installation entitled "Momento". With the event being held in different parts of the world, it was important to bring in an element of Hong Kong in the design. As such the scenography was designed as an imaginary two-storey sea side mansion found throughout the city.

The mansion is pulled apart like pieces of puzzle allowing each to represent a special unique moment. References to old mansions found in Hong Kong are reinterpreted through architectural details in a contemporary manner. Visitors navigate between these ten dreamlike “moments” to complete the journey.

Ten moments begins on the second floor with the Pier, which leads to the mansion’s Living Room, Meditation Lounge, Dining Salons and Dressing Room. Downstairs are the Garden and a Study, the Game Room, a Room for Tea and ending with a Gate which looks out to the sea. Each moment features iconic, travel-inspired portable lighting, furniture, and accessories from the Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades collection.

First, we studied the design story behind the feature furniture pieces to come up with the theme of the room. Then colors were carefully chosen to not only be in harmony with the vibrant furniture but also to make them stand out. Playing with the idea of optical illusions and surrealism, architectural elements were cleverly adopted to frame the furniture pieces.

Each moment also features a different sensory experience such as wind, artificial sunlight, smell and sound in order to make the experience truly immersive, and to allow the guests to feel like they were really transported to this imaginary mansion. For example, the living room features gentle wind blowing through curtain in 2 full height windows with back-lit artificial sunlight representing early morning, fire cracking sound is playing in the fire place. In the meditation lounge, ripple metal surrounding the resting pods create reflections on the wall mimicking water, with sound of singing bowl playing in the background.

Lastly, extreme consideration went into carefully curating the guest’s journey and strategically placing the salons where guests could relax and enjoy the furniture while making enquiries or purchases.
