1. Innovation
Labotory reinterpreted the iconic story of Lotte from The Sorrows of Young Werther into a modern space, presenting a new dimension of design for the Lotte Outlet Paju VIP Lounge. Under the theme of “A Romantic Tale at Lotte’s Mansion,” the space reflects the family-oriented and nature-connected character of the outlet. By creating a space where customers can enjoy nature and experience the warmth and kindness of Lotte, as depicted in the novel, the project establishes a new standard for premium customer experiences, transcending the traditional lounge concept.
2. Functionality
The design team introduced practical features to enhance customer comfort and optimize spatial flow. The kitchen area was placed behind the reception to ensure it does not disrupt customers' relaxation, and dual blinds were installed to regulate natural light, allowing visitors to enjoy their time without glare regardless of where they sit. Additionally, the family room was separated from the main lounge to provide a private and comfortable space for family visitors, meeting diverse customer needs. Subtle design elements throughout the space maintain functionality while achieving visual harmony.
3. Creativity
The design showcases creativity by modernizing the concept of Lotte’s mansion. The symmetrical wall structures reminiscent of a grand gate, along with classic patterns on the floors of the lobby and lounge, differentiate and organically connect the spaces. Artistic elements such as candelabra-shaped lighting and walls that display dynamic patterns when touched by light transform the space into an artistic and sensory destination. In particular, the reception area utilizes structural columns as sculptural objects, maintaining spatial balance while emphasizing aesthetic value.
4. Eco-Social Impact
This project emphasizes the importance of appreciating time spent in nature. Designed to harmonize with the natural surroundings of the outlet, the lounge provides a serene escape from the urban environment. The thoughtful use of natural light, flow optimization, and sustainable materials maximizes customer comfort while achieving eco-friendly design goals. By offering family-friendly spaces that cater to both individuals and groups, the project reflects social values and strengthens emotional connections between the brand and its customers.
