LOOKNOW’s first flagship store in South China is the multi-brand space in the Mixc, Shenzhen. Innovation: LOOKNOW is located in the Mixc, Shenzhen, and takes Jupiter’s rings as its design concept. In the process of merging, combining, controlling, and dynamically balancing, it highlights the extensibility of components, blurs the boundary between spaces, and combines components and mechanics while maintaining their respective individualities as well. The space is a commercial carrier, whose basic framework can be altered according to updated operation needs. After being rotated and moved, a new spatial form comes into being. This reduces limitations stemming from an inflexible layout, and thus gives the space more possibilities. Creativity: With a gross floor area of 421 square meters, the project lies at NL107 (1F) and NL207 (2F) of the Mixc, Nanshan District, Shenzhen Taking the concept of LOOKNOW, the designer Paul viewed the space as an organic whole, and then created a new spatial logic to fulfill commercial demands. Through specific media, design details easy to be perceived are accentuated to attract visual attention. After realizing a subtle balance between explored reality and imagination-based thinking, subjectivity and objectivity, and abstraction and concreteness, a complete spatial form arises. The design extracts finite connected laws from visible things to evoke rich fancies about stories. No one can see everywhere. But strangely, vision has no boundary. Here, people are given such a spatial experience that the middle dominates their range of vision while the rest at the edge and out of sight is almost empty. Functionality: The space is a commercial carrier, whose basic framework can be altered according to updated operational needs. After being rotated and moved, a new spatial form comes into being. This reduces limitations arising from an inflexible layout, and thus gives the space more possibilities. Sustainability: Taking public installations as design languages, and natural materials and industrial products as media, the project realizes a desirable design recreation. Just as those rings encircling the Jupiter, this space guards its surroundings. LOOKNOW hopes that the space can build a participatory relationship with the public and facilitate the integration with the time and people in the course of urbanization, in a bid to achieve sustainability and harmonious coexistence.
