Rooms, studios and suites totalling at 80 units – as well as a series of collective areas like a restaurant and bar – are on offer at Locke am Platz, which is located in Zurich’s green, lakeside neighbourhood Enge. London-based hospitality brand Locke tapped Tatjana von Stein (formerly Sella Concept) to design the interiors. Von Stein, the studio’s namesake, aimed to reflect the ‘cultural identity’ of Zurich in the spaces, which unfold over six floors. This inspiration comes through in the hotel’s colourful palette, plush materiality and modernist patterns. With a mix of rooms for short- and long-stay guests, the private interiors were envisioned like a series of boudoirs, featuring bespoke decorative curtains that enrobe the walls. The studios in particular also have living areas and fully outfitted kitchens. The objective was to enable multifunctional use in Locke am Platz’s service spaces, ensuring easy transition from day to night. The lounge sits atop a raised, carpeted platform overlooking the wider common areas. It connects the restaurant, named Choupette, and the decorative timber-clad bar. All three spaces sport floor-to-ceiling windows to create a light-filled environment. They’re dressed in materials that contrast between hard and soft, giving a tactile, layered feel that’s dynamic and domestic at the same time. Terracotta, green and yellow velvet finishes by Yarn Collective juxtapose with stainless steel, microcement and high-gloss paints. Von Stein designed bespoke furniture for the restaurant and lounge, pieces that were manufactured by Parla. A mural by Magdalena Julia Gordon anchors Choupette’s interior.
