The fictional brand and story behind Little Miss India allowed the designers to create a unique and cozy space that everyone can easily relate to and feel at home within. The concept revolved around her family home which she opened up to the public to view her endless vintage collectibles and artwork, passed down by the family over the years. The design did not stop at the interior, but also needed to carry through to the show kitchen and tableware to ensure every element is authentic and fitting to the concept. Custom made hammered brass tandoor ovens create the focal point within Little Miss India’s dining room while an array of eclectic tableware & mismatched copper and chrome cutlery set the tone to a unique dining experience. Classical colonial elements and various joinery detailing have been adopted in a contemporary and refined form, while vintage patterns and motifs have been used as subtle etch design in the brass sheets adorning the show kitchen. The design narrative served the spatial flow of the restaurant quite well, where the once seemingly disconnected indoor and outdoor spaces, formed the different rooms of Little Miss India’s house. The dining room is defined with its moody setting and perimeter circulation whereas the atrium space is flooded with natural light, lush hanging plants and white French windows allowing for seamless spatial flow from one room to the other.
