At the electronica trade fair 2016 in Munich the Studio Bachmannkern designed the spatial communication for OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. A ‘spectrum of infinite possibilities’, as the exterior slogan declared, lay behind the towering, translucent border of the cubic space, where an interactive display introduced visitors to the brand’s products. Beginning with the idea that ‘light comes in straight lines,’ a spectrometer served as the formal inspiration for the layout of the booth. From this, the designers derived three exhibition spaces topped by light cones: ‘Illumination’, ‘Sensing’, and ‘Visualisation’. Each space represented a specific aspect of Osram’s Opto Semiconductors, so the displays were set in a variety of light scenes and used different technologies to promote interaction between visitors and product.
