This art piece expresses the aspect of “Life Science” based on the DNA spiral structure which it is fundamentally constructed of.With its dynamic form reaching upwards, the monument lends a message of strong commitment to reach the pinnacle of life science. The materials used are laminated Japanese logs symbolizing “Life” and 1230 aluminum layers symbolizing “Science”.The monument embodies the attitude of aiming for the summit of life science based on the vast amount of research conducted.Pinnacle of life science is depicted in this work by blending natural material “Life” and technology “Science” through human hands.

Innovation
This monument was created at the new research laboratory of Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Many researchers are working there to create medicines for people's health through life science. Recently, the process of making medicines has been based on the decipherment of human DNA. This monument is designed to remind us of that DNA and expresses the extreme pursuit of life science that researchers are aiming for.

Functionality
Researchers continue to face their research on a daily basis, sometimes to the point of weariness. We have created a place where researchers can look up at the monument in the midst of their daily routine, go back to the starting point of their research, and calm down before working.

Creativity
The shape of the structure is reminiscent of the spiral structure of DNA. The materials used are wood, which comes from nature, and metal, which is a material born from technology, giving the image of life science. The wood is a mixture of many species of trees native to Japan's native forests, which have been widely used in medicine since ancient times, to create a variety of expressions as if one were looking at a forest. The metal is made of aluminum and creates beautiful reflections that change with the day's sunlight from 1230 strata. The entire design was designed using algorithmic 3D verification.

Eco-Social Impact
The materials used in this monument were made to be used without waste. Scrap wood from the wood processing became furniture for another project, and all scrap metal from the metal processing was recycled back into the original aluminum.
