Powering a New Era of Work Through Design

In the heart of Helsinki, where tradition meets innovation, a new chapter unfolded for Lieke Attorneys Ltd. The company, known for its legal expertise and forward-thinking ethos, sought more than just a workspace. We envisioned a state-of-the-art office that would embody their values, impress clients, and act as a launchpad for future growth.

The goal was to create a 1,000-square-metre environment that elevates employee wellbeing, strengthens company culture, and operates as a visual business card. From concept to completion, every design detail was tailored to support Lieke's high-performance culture while fostering a warm and approachable atmosphere.

At the core of the new office lies innovation. A collaborative "core" was constructed at the centre of the space—an open hub where ideas spark, conversations flow, and people gather. It symbolises the company's commitment to unity and open dialogue.

Functionality was key. The layout was strategically planned to eliminate wasted space, support concentrated work, and encourage spontaneous interaction. High-level sound insulation ensures client confidentiality and quiet focus, while a welcoming shared break area has become a hotspot for informal events and team bonding—elements impossible to replicate in remote work.

Creativity also guided the visual identity of the space. Drawing inspiration from Lieke's recently refreshed brand, the interiors echo copper and deep green tones—an homage to energy, growth, and Lieke's namesake. (The word "Lieke" was initially coined by Finnish polymath Elias Lönnrot as a term for "electricity.") Copper, a conductor of electricity, now gleams subtly throughout the office as a visual thread that ties brand to space.

But what truly sets this office apart is its ecological intelligence. Rather than chasing fleeting trends, the design team prioritised sustainability through every phase. Existing furniture was repurposed. Materials were chosen for durability and timelessness. Original technical systems, including suspended ceilings and HVAC infrastructure, were retained and integrated seamlessly, reducing the need for wasteful demolition.

The process was deeply collaborative. Workshops with staff, including partners, IT experts and office managers, ensured that practical needs were front and centre. The final outcome was a future-proof space—flexible, resilient, and tailored to the hybrid realities of modern work.

Managing Director Jussi reflects, "We entered the new millennium compared to our previous office. The premises are functional, employees enjoy coming to work, and the space reflects who we are."

The new Lieke office is more than a workplace—it's a living, breathing embodiment of the company's purpose, designed to empower people, protect the planet, and propel progress. It's proof that with thoughtful design, even the quiet power of a law firm can make a bold, sustainable statement.
