Parts and Labor Design’s concept for The Evelyn was inspired by the building’s Art Deco architecture and a nod to the jazz era’s Evelyn Nesbit, which resulted in the creation of diverse yet unified public spaces, each with monumental moments and thoughtful elements.

When guests first step into the custom glass reception vestibule they are immediately drawn to the lobby lounge, where soft velvet seating and dim lighting creates an intimately warm luxe setting. Visually separated by a threshold of glass and steel partitions, is Leonelli Taberna, a casual, all-day Roman trattoria. A rich color palette of dark woods, green marble, and amber tones accompanied with dark green banquette seating, custom lighting, and lush greenery seamlessly melds “old New York” with “old world Italy”. In the dining area, a large display kitchen provides diners a glimpse of culinary craft. The neighboring bar is topped in green and white marble with ceiling height back bar shelving.

Toward the rear of the main floor is the fine dining restaurant with a private dining room, Benno. The space is defined by a large central skylight from which a multi-part Art Deco-inspired brass light fixture hangs. Located on the first floor is Leonelli Focacceria e Pasticceria, a modern, warm, and inviting bakery and café with a color palette of creams, marble, wood detailing, and brass accents. Upstairs, a mezzanine-level bookstore, Assouline, overlooks the café through expansive windows.
