The Belem’s project is a dental centre located at a district undergoing major restructuring, close to Bordeaux train station. Our client wanted a new centre with a design marked by hotel codes and wellness centers. We have designed a project bathed in light, enveloping, and inviting to take care of oneself.  In order to respond to social changes and the development of new centres, bringing together several practitioners within a single structure, the Carmin agency was asked to design a quality place in terms of the treatments offered and the atmosphere it represents.  The spaces had to be welcoming and comfortable for the public while offering a particularly pleasant and functional working environment.   The different spaces were organised by integrating all the technical constraints necessary for the operation of a dental centre, surgery and imaging facilities. The spaces are spacious, bright, graphic and served by clean and airy circulations. Particular care has been taken to ensure the duality between natural and illuminated light.   By inviting the expertise of the French craftsmanship, we have highlighted the manual work of the practitioners: the works of the staffers, upholsterers and cabinetmakers are integral parts of the concept and have made it possible to sublimate the project.   Surrounding and intimate spaces were created thanks to the staff decors and their treatments. To allow the use of these skills with the economic constraints of the project, we have designed only two moulded and repeated motifs creating all the staff decorations present on the ceilings and walls.   The hygiene requirement related to the centre’s care activity has led us to work with easy-to-use and durable materials such as tiles, glass, metal or even stone resin. To contrast and break out from the standard codes used in care facilities, rougher and more textured materials such as solid wood, technical textiles, wall coverings or plaster staff have been chosen to offer a warm and relaxed atmosphere. To accentuate the feeling of calm and serenity, we have combined natural materials and colours such as solid wood, wood veneer, stone resin or plaster staff. Despite the health situation and a more complicated opening of the centre, this concept of a dental centre focusing on well-being is expected to be developed in the next coming months.
