The office design for KINUJO, a brand known for its high-performance haircare tools, translates the brand’s philosophy of “wearing refined beauty” into a spatial composition that is elegant, functional, and emotionally resonant. Located in Tokyo, the compact office uses a restrained yet impactful design language to express identity through materiality and atmosphere.
A translucent glass partition marks the boundary between the entrance and the main workspace, creating a soft threshold that maintains visual continuity while introducing a sense of quiet transition. Within this confined space, visual impact is amplified through deliberate layering: reflections on glass, polished surfaces, and soft lighting interplay to create shifting scenes that evolve with movement, making the space feel larger and more immersive.
At the center of the room stands a generous circular desk that becomes the spatial anchor, inviting collaboration, facilitating focus, and offering privacy through subtle orientation shifts. Behind this communal core, a dramatic feature wall made of refined Carrig stone introduces a sculptural moment of material storytelling.
Finely carved with fluid linear details, the wall abstractly references the movement and softness of hair—transforming solid stone into a poetic representation of the brand’s essence. As light grazes the textured surface, dynamic shadows emerge, creating a visual rhythm that changes throughout the day. The contrast between stone’s permanence and hair’s ephemerality becomes a powerful metaphor for refined beauty achieved through precision and care. The workspace avoids overt signage or color branding, instead relying on architectural gestures and material refinement to embody identity.
Every detail—from curved transitions to the tonal restraint of the palette—contributes to a serene, confident atmosphere. This design proves that small-scale workspaces can deliver emotional impact, narrative clarity, and spatial richness when thoughtfully executed.
