EPR was commissioned by St William as interior designer and architect on their world-class residents’ facilities, which form part of King’s Road Park - a 17.35-acre regeneration scheme in Fulham. Firmly rooted in the history and essence of Fulham, the facilities include a lounge, courtyard garden, spa, naturally lit swimming pool, gym, private dining, two cinemas and a range of workspaces.
EPR’s interior design concept encourages socialising, flexible working and relaxing within one space. From the outset, we experimented with tones, textures and materials to create a uniquely immersive experience. The final design takes inspiration from Neo-Victorian styling, emphasising a pastoral language through natural light, exposed structures and an honest material palette. Elegant furnishings in natural, warm hues and materials, paired with hotel-style leisure amenities and lush landscaping, create an inspirational place to live.
Throughout, the space has been efficiently planned to be flexible and functional whilst maintaining a comfortable environment. At the heart of the facilities, a generous residents’ lounge, equipped with a bar and flexible seating options, offers residents a space to work, entertain and unwind. Meanwhile, a central atrium garden acts as a focal point and interlaces the various facilities together. Crittall doors and windows to the rotunda flood the residents’ lounge with sunlight.
To align with our client’s environmental agenda, the facilities have been designed with sustainability at the forefront. Achieving BREEAM ‘Very Good’, EPR specified beautiful yet functional materials with proven eco-credentials. Cork flooring in the gym, timber acoustic panelling for the ceilings in the residents’ lounge and recycled fabrics contribute to the project’s sustainable credentials. Furthermore, high-quality materials, including raw lava stone and timeless design allow the facilities to be hard-wearing, with a long design life.
Wellbeing is at the heart of the design. A 25-metre swimming pool alongside treatment rooms, a steam room and a sauna offer residents a place to relax. The interior design utilises a relaxing palette and natural materials such as timber and stone. The wellness line-up is complete with a state-of-the-art gym that features industrial materials, statement flooring and vivid lighting. Biophilia, including a green wall behind the swimming pool and a lush indoor garden, has been incorporated throughout the facilities to boost the residents’ wellbeing by fostering a visual connection with nature.
Not only is the design sustainable but it is also innovative and forward-thinking. Smart technologies including intelligent lighting systems and automated climate control were incorporated, enhancing the user experience and contributing to the project’s energy efficiency. Moreover, EPR selected innovative materials with distinctive technological features wherever possible. These include recycled, upcycled and eco-friendly materials.
