Innovation & Creativity
At King’s Landing, the mere association of colors to wall, ceilings, art & soft furnishing has been exploited as the house showcases a riot of colors running across various bespoke furniture, art & lighting fixtures that pose as installation. As one enters the space a multimedia art christened Hamlet that sees the coming together of a beaucoup of materials such as stained veneers, printed fabrics, mild steel frameworks, acrylic, bespoke wallpapers, PU-finished fragments, and glass that have been hand-cut individually and collaged upon a custom-printed fabric background stands as a symbol for the riot of colors in the home.
Every piece designed in the house is a master of critical thinking. We perceive to bring in the most exciting forms and combinations within the most basic pieces to add character within the space. For instance the sculptural bookshelf in the office room; guarded by a duo of high-gloss black PU-finished 6-inch diameter cylindrical members that rise from the floor, connected by tethers of blue and pink strands at the apex while the bookends have been built into the structure in the form of arches and frames, immersed in dreamy pastels that contrast the black while the headrest of the master bed entwines multiple three-dimensional shapes cloaked in various solid and textured suede fabrics, unionising with chequered and grey linens set against the concrete-finished linear-patterned customised wallpaper. This interplay of form, color and texture within pieces define the correlation of innovation and creativity within the space.
Functionality & Sustainability
While creativity and innovation complement each other functionality and sustainability work hand in hand too as each element in the home has been designed such that they can be moved at any given point, thus giving opportunity for multiple spatial layouts to be created when one feels the need of a new space or layout. This aspect further nails down to the possibility to reframe the color scheme of the home as bespoke furniture dressed in stains and colors could dwell themselves on a different tone and still add character to the space, for instance the home could be reimagined as a monochrome space with splashes of colors through the existing art works.
With King’s Landing, the endeavour has been to realise and live out the notion of a home being anywhere one wants it to be if the tapestry of its spaces and objects feels like one’s own.
