King Innovation, brand, and culture in focus for the Swedish game developer When looking for a new Stockholm office, Swedish game developer King wanted a space with optimized workflows that could support the innovative way of working that characterizes the business. 

As a growing company at the very forefront of their industry, they also wanted an office that could help accelerate the brand journey along with a workplace platform that strengthens culture and builds one unified brand. Strategy and thorough analysis as the foundation for creativity in close collaboration with King’s Head of Branding, award-winning architectural firm Studio Stockholm began by processing what defines King today and, perhaps more importantly, what will define the company in the future. 

This initial phase also meant thorough analysis of how to create the right conditions for an agile way of working as well as how to establish natural meeting points for all parts of the company to drive office culture, despite the spread over seven floor plans. These aspects then constituted the very foundation for a creative workplace. A Seriously Playful concept with unexpected encounters Based on King’s motto Seriously Playful, the concept was designed with a distinct playful approach yet without becoming naive in expressions and solutions. As a result, the entire office is permeated by unexpected encounters – rough concrete in stark contrast to specially designed tables in colorful soft silicone and pleated high-gloss steel that reflects the unique lightning and design, drawing inspiration from pieces of candy. 

The design creates an environment with multi dimension, rounding out form and materiality. The modern aesthetic allows for the creative environments to interact with an international character and well-finessed details, and the diversity of materials and colors genuinely captures the core of the business and empowers the brand – world class game development. 

High employee satisfaction and Sweden’s Best Designed Office 2021 The new Stockholm office has not only contributed to strengthening the brand and the creation of a new physical platform for what the brand should represent, but also led to the further development of King’s agile way of working, resulting in increased effectiveness and productivity within the organization. The establishment of one joint culture for the whole company as well as an optimal platform for creativity and work environment has created strong incentives for the employees to return to the office after the corona pandemic. 

In the autumn of 2021, the King office was awarded Sweden’s Best Designed Office 2021.
