This interactive lighting scheme in Iceland’s busiest airport gives travellers a memorable sensory experience, bringing the country’s natural sights and national celebrations under one roof. The key innovation behind the dynamic ceiling installation (covering the main departure and arrival area) was to recreate the Aurora Borealis; a natural phenomenon living out of the terminal’s occupancy and weather’s activity. The installation bridges human being and nature, recreating the celestial experience within Keflavik Airport. The light scheme has turned what was an otherwise uninteresting airport terminal into a destination with its own clear identity and sense of pride.
