The client's request was to create a space for his family to rest and be away from the crowds of tourists. The space had to be integrated into the natural environment and be discreet in order to preserve the client's privacy, which is well known in Iceland, and could be reached on foot after a one-hour walk. The entire water heating system is geothermal. The sloping roof with vegetation not only avoids stagnation in winter time but also insulates this area. The customer sees without being seen. The construction was done with maritime containers.

The client's request was not to have a hard part to build. The proposal was to build it like the old Icelandic houses. The basis for these constructions was found with the help of the study of the Heritage Museum in Skagafjörður - Booklet no XXII. The interior remains natural and takes up the elements of Icelandic nature. The shower in the main room is reminiscent of the rocks on the black sandy beaches, and the openings in the ceilings allow you to enjoy the northern lights. Materials such as wood, black rock and vegetation are used.

The aim will be to do as much work as possible on site, working with local craftsmen. Everything will be made to measure.
