In the past, public restrooms in shopping malls were typically classified into two types based on gender. However, for a long time, it has been common for mothers and sons, fathers and daughters, grandparents and grandchildren to go out together, and it has been a social problem to figure out how to use the restroom in these situations.
Recently, we have created the first gender-neutral parent-child restroom in China, aiming to provide more convenient and humane services for families on the go. Although many public restroom facilities have child-specific faucets that are lowered in height, the distance between them is often still too wide for children to easily reach and turn on or off the tap.
To address this issue, we have implemented specially designed measures to position the faucet on the side instead of the front, which is not only more convenient to use, but also improves efficiency. In addition, in traditional public restrooms, children's sinks are usually placed at the far left or right ends, with separate handwashing spaces for children and adults. However, we have combined them into a "one big, one small, one left, one right" design, where parents can accompany their children to wash their hands together. This encourages children to be more motivated and careful in completing their handwashing tasks, helping to develop good hygiene habits.
Additionally, children are always within the sight of their parents, making it easier to supervise and improving safety. We have designed two types of suites, including a regular suite with only adult and child toilets and a baby chair, and a multi-functional suite with an additional urinal and diaper changing table. The door is labeled with a gender-neutral restroom sign, providing more privacy for people of different genders.
A series of intelligent designs and special features better meet the needs of cross-gender families traveling with children.
