"JII.CHUAN" is an innovative urban renewal and renovation project located in the bustling commercial core of Jiefangbei, Chongqing, China. Our aim was to create an organic space where architecture and interior design integrate seamlessly, while unifying the language of the city block without losing its unique features.

We carefully selected restrained materials that harmonize with the surrounding street environment and utilized specific proportions of windows and courtyards to create a connection with the surrounding buildings. The exterior is wrapped in a rough cement texture prefabricated curtain wall system, with Suzhou-style courtyard-style design, and proportionally designed openings and carvings on the surface to connect the building with the outside world. The custom-designed bamboo folding door on the side provides a stable but not rigid, splendid but not luxurious, simple but extraordinary exterior.

Inside, the bar area on the first floor features a multidimensional curved surface that combines concrete and abstract elements, creating an elegant and warm dining space that provides a comfortable and welcoming experience for customers during their meal. The floor-to-ceiling glass coupled with the dark cement brick exterior forms a natural urban display window, allowing pedestrians passing by the restaurant to catch a glimpse of its strong sense of space.

The main entrance breaks with convention and uses a solid and heavy wooden door. As the door opens slowly, customers are transported from the noisy street to a peaceful space. The vestibule area beyond the thick wooden door has a striking feature wall with smooth lines that weaken the sharp edges of the wall, coupled with black-grey wooden rock panels, creating a grandiose sense of mountains and canyons. With the perfect blend of creativity, functionality, sustainability, and innovation, JII.CHUAN offers a unique and unforgettable experience.
