JFJ Sanctuary is headquarters for international artist JJ Lin and his team, JFJ Productions. Designed to be a sanctuary for himself and guests in the entertainment industry, the spatial concept encompasses a production studio as the central ‘Heart’, surrounded by programmatic spaces such as office, reception, hospitality lounge, meeting room, storage, JJ’s private office and coffee kiosk.

Capturing the spirit of musical storytelling, the ceiling details were inspired by the linear repetition of sheet music, using aluminum batons designed to bring volumetric consistency to the lounge and meeting room. The office workstations were wrapped in stretched fabric, mimicking an amplifier’s cladding and allowing users to be reminded of the individual speaker pods, creating a visual rhythm in the space.

The production studio, the central ‘Heart’, was the most painstakingly crafted part of the project. Cladded with individually cut Carrara marble tiles, it is inspired by the rhythm and scaling of musical notes. This beating heart, mimicked by curvatures on the wall, represents the soundwaves pulsating through the office and to the external, Miracle Coffee – a coffee kiosk catered to the everyday man in the public space. The custom-designed cloud that hangs overhead in the café, symbolizes the ‘miracles’ that stem from JJ Lin’s music mantra – “If Miracles Had a Sound’.
