Situated alongside some of our favorite clients (Clover, Brella, Pause), on LA's trendiest street, Sycamore Avenue, Studio Murnane – formerly Project M Plus, conceived the new workplace design and VIP room for the ultra-chic French eyewear company, Jacques Maries Mage. Embracing Japanese minimalism, warm whites, and a mix of rich woods furniture we transformed their industrial space into an inviting work environment. Pulling their decadent signature oxblood throughout, we accented the red mullions, corridor, upholstery, tile, and Rojo Levante marble in the bathrooms and Viola marble countertops for an aligned "deep red" brand expression. Custom millwork with faceted edges, retro vintage 70's space-age lighting, and the addition of oversized skylights bring visual interest and balance.

The building’s 13,000 square foot raw industrial shell allowed for architectural flexibility and programming. A mezzanine was added to expand usable square footage and introduced a top- secret design workshop with custom lighbox work tables, four C-Suite leadership offices, an employee lounge and conference room above. Below, a large open-plan desking layout supports collaboration, and includes an additional conference room, employee eat-in kitchen and six private offices. Large skylights were introduced to maximize daylight, reduce dependency on artificial lighting, and infuse the space with a sense of openness.

A built-in planter doubles as a hand rail, masking a ramp and turning circulation into an intentional moment of discovery. The desking zone incorporates a minimalist zen garden featuring raked sand and stones—a meditative element that invites pause and reflection. A refuge from prying eyes, VIP Room nestled between the offices and the front of house retail area, exudes a sexy 70's vibe with wall to wall cream plush carpet, where the brand’s high-end clients can enjoy a drink and don the latest styles in complete privacy. Timed to their company's growing brand, we created a uniquely branded space of understated luxury that makes coming to work both gracious and inspiring.
