The design of the Singapore Pavilion at ITB Asia celebrates Singapore Tourism Board’s new branding “Passion Made Possible” through a compelling crystalline spatial experience. Rethinking the traditional tourism tradeshow pavilion, the structure combines live performances, design installations and artist showcases into a multi-sensory experience. Viewed as a standalone structure; one sees the pavilion as a form in pixelated layers, where intricate patterns are revealed upon approach. Taken as an individual module - the form is defined by the use of steel lattice and cut-out patterns, which combine to create a structure that appears to grow. Vertical columns are clad with mirrors, which camouflage the roof’s support system and create the illusion of a floating canopy above. Underpinning these spaces, lush tropical greenery is suspended beneath the lattice portals, fusing epiphytes, lithophytes and ferns into a sensory showcase of Singapore’s unique biodiversity. This greenery is reflected within the columns and ceiling, expanding the perception of space for the booth’s exhibitors. The modular connections allowing complete flexibility as the structure adapts to different sized spaces as it travels around the world. A Stage, Maker-Bar, Makerspace and Passion display tables allow visitors to explore multiple disciplines, from the performing, visual and literary to culinary arts and landscape design, reflecting the Passion Pillars of Singapore Tourism Board’s branding.
