Innovation
Innovation at Project IronMan is transferred through its material choice, were each material was thoroughly thought through, ensuring its application was far from vain and driven by purpose. An amalgamation of various materials ranging from natural stone, segments of wooden tiles, slivers of brass inlay, hand-cut and cast on-site marble along with hand laid tiles create an embedded carpet of sorts composed of geometric patterns. Another example would be the double curved back splash of the shoe storage wrapped by 1” x 1” mosaic, an element that cherishes craftsmanship. Thus making the congress of materials a stand out feature of the home.
Creativity
At MOS art refuses to be shackled to its association with just paintings, objects, and sculptures. To us, it's the elements that seep through the veins of the home, filling an emotional and visual void one didn't know existed. In this case simple yet straightforward black lines translate into art, paving its way across furniture, walls, ceiling and floor in the form of inlay. An array of linear black acrylic strips implanted into the wall turn around the edges of the living, participating in an imperceptible origami continuing onto the concealed tracks that streak the monotone ceiling. This further extends to the kitchen where linearity rules the roost visually, in the form of grooved shutters, fluted fascia, and Mondrian-like wooden beading details. It’s been more of an idea, a concept, a composition that elevates something banal and helps unveil just what potential a home can bear if one remembers to dismiss the notions of familiarity.
Functionality
Functionality and innovation go hand in hand at Project IronMan . An open-plan layout has been followed through the house with all things snug and character-packed. The sleek form of the television console that monolithically spans the breadth of the peripheral wall with a cavernous cavity for the gadgets, ‘Bar-A-Khamba’ - the two-feet diameter bar that latches into the ceiling and floor placed at the rear end of the living area and the symmetric units guarding the dining table made of perforated black metal sheets and teakwood carpentered to create an industrial theme concealed crockery storage are pieces that also define that spaces and details harboured at the MOS studio are often far removed from their literal function, and they don a new-fangled mien.
Sustainability
With Project IronMan, we’ve strived to create a pragmatic, non-static space dominated by neutrals that one would resonate to over a decade, this very thought adds to the sustainable aspect of the project. This has been brought to life through the tapestry of the home in objects, crafted pieces of furniture, and bespoke materiality. Monochromes dabbling in black, white, greys, alongside pops of a vibrant sage green, aquamarine, and vermillion add character to the space. Material choices were thoroughly thought through, ensuring each element was driven by purpose.
