IPG Mediabrands was looking for a ‘home’ for several owned businesses in Amsterdam. This ‘family of companies’ requested a modern working environment which stimulates creation, innovation, collaboration and spinoff from each other’s’ businesses. They chose on old and empty single tenant building that needed to be fully renovated. With the help and input of Tétris the building kept its old features and therefore has still the great industrial look the building had when it was built in 1969. From an obsolete building, the metamorphosis to modern high quality office premises with an industrial look and feel has been quite a challenge. IPG was very open to all ideas our architect had. Tétris created a main stem with roots and side branches. On the ground floor, you can find a restaurant and bar (the nurturing roots of the tree), where the whole family will come together and is able to casually meet and celebrate work life. On the floors above (the trees branches so to say) are several businesses. Each floor has a special feature: a medi-a-rena, an auditorium, window side lounge booths, a film/photography studio and so on. The employee can choose from a big spectrum of ways of working: formal, informal, private or communal settings have been spread out over the floors.
