Interior spaces today are territories of emotions. Whether it is through everyday-life practices or unforgettable experiences, the interiors have become an endless arena for the projection of personal emotions on space. During the Salone del Mobile 2018, students from HEAD-Genève explored the role of emotions in the construction of contemporary spaces. Hosted by the gallery Mimmo Scognamiglio, the exhibition IN MY HEAD featured the personal perspectives of twenty Interior Architecture students with different dreams and life aspirations, displayed in independent spaces and articulated through narrative installations. What does HEAD-Genève mean to them? What experiences, dreams and aspirations do they seek to share? An unusual gate replicating the entrance door of HEAD’s most emblematic building in Geneva gave Milan’s visitors a first taste of the school and signified its “landing” on the city. Inside, emotions where are translated into interior spaces in different ways and formats, from analogical tactile experiences to digital atmospheric clouds, from abstract grids to iconic boxes, illustrating the relationship between objects, spaces and experiences that build up contemporary emotions. During one week, visitors could experience spaces conveying the dreams, frustrations and desires of young students reflecting on the condition of their spaces of intimacy, publicity, work, leisure and hedonism.
