The restoration of a picturesque place . It is a breakthrough and experiment of the traditional principle of restoration of old Chinese building. Sun Ke Villa at No. 60 Panyu Road was built in the early 1930s. It is one of the most famous residential project in Shanghai Columbia Circle designed by Slovakian Hungarian architect Laszlo Hudec for Sun Ke, son of Sun Yat-sen (founding father). The architecture is mainly Spanish style mixed with some elements of Italian Renaissance, Baroque and Gothic architecture. Currently, it is a national double protection project of historical protection and cultural relics protection in China. Cross-binding the core principle of Chinese ancient building restoration,'repair the old as the old', and the logic of western ancient building restoration,'repair the old as picturesque', the designer aims to restore the original historical appearance of the classic project in the architectural space while making the interior and display beyond time and space. It adopted Shanghai culture and customs as the underlying characteristics, and recreates the contemporary expressionist art and furniturein the scene. It is 'activating' rather than simply'stating' the local scenes of China in the early 1930s. At the same time, the combination of many Shanghai-style classical craftsmanship and modern art pieces makes the architecture and interior exceeded scenes of certain symbolic of the era to salutr to historical. This is also abreakthrough and experiment of the traditional principle ofrestoration of historical Chinese architecture.
