Hotelito, a boutique, 13-bedroom retreat with oceanfront pool, under-palm beach club, and chef-driven open-air restaurant, nestled between mountains, jungle, and coast, is a hidden jewel that emerges from the waves of the rolling Pacific of Guerrero, Mexico.
Hotelito is a culmination of tactile stone, cool, polished concrete, and rich Parota wood, that features dark-sky lighting design and custom fixtures and finishes, local materials, and permanent and rotating art, objects, and finishes from local and international artisans and suppliers.
Hotelito is an exploration in experimentation with hyper-local resources and adaptation to the landscape that seeks to provide solutions for modern, luxury, and relaxed rural, beachside living with an organic approach to design; using simplicity, quality, locality, and heritage in materials, and clean, contemporary features as the hallmarks of every private and communal space.
Entering the three-tiered Hotelito from the four-pointed plaza of native Ceiba trees, dramatic concrete floating steps guide you to an elevated, high-ceiling open air lobby adorned in fine art from artists in residence.
A carpentry installation from Mexican Joselo Moderista is a complex, jigsaw-like display, complemented by wooden totems beside the cascading staircase of volcanic stone that funnels into the garden-laden atrium and walkway to the beachfront pool and restaurant.
Green rooftops sprout basil and pollinating flowers, attracting butterflies and birds seasonally as an active solution to naturally cooling for the region’s subtropical temperatures.
Bedrooms are designed as safe havens and sanctuaries from the climate. Cool, neutral tones and concrete mixed with warm wood and luxe, organic textiles provide a calm and comfortable space for disconnection and regeneration.
The hotel’s orientation directly in front of the Pacific grants 360 degree exposure to both sunrise and sunset, granting all bedrooms complete jungle, mountain, or ocean views and completely unobstructed panoramic views of both the ocean and the Sierra Madre mountains.
The communal areas are curated settings designed for the freedom of interaction and forging connections with others, accented by natural Oaxacan clay tiles, polished concrete in black, slate-toned stone floors and open full chef’s kitchen and dining counter created for the art of culinary performance, positioned beneath an elevated tropical hardwood slatted roof in a sleek and handmade technique mirrored throughout the hotel in both exteriors and bedroom carpentry.
Hotelito acts as a functional, yet creative conduit for experience.
Every space and experience is designed with the intention to bring visitors closer to nature and others, in an unmatched model of comfort, low-impact, and elevated design yet to be seen in other beachfront hospitality projects.
