Located in front of the Parc du Landreau, the Hotel has 72 rooms (including 14 suites), 1 Presidential Suite and an Italian-inspired restaurant. This 4,000 m2 hotel designed by the Parisian agency Giros & Coutellier is inspired by the aesthetic of the mills of Mont des Alouettes, a historic site in the immediate vicinity of the town of Les Herbiers.
Wood, natural stone, the specific mechanisms of the mills and the accumulations of dry wheat stalks are elements that the duo wanted to reinterpret in order to give a unique identity to the hotel. Surrounded by greenery, between the Landreau park and its own garden, the Hotel is a rehabilitation and expansion of an existing building from the 70s.
Upon arrival, the visitor is immersed in a careful and warm decoration treated with raw and natural materials such as solid wood, stones, woven fabrics, cane and raffia furniture and raw corten. In the lobby, a large solid wood mill wheel is framed on wooden cladding. In the living room, traditional and handmade furniture mixes with Scandinavian-inspired chairs and tables to create a comfortable and modern atmosphere. Large ceramic vases filled with dry plants are present throughout the lobby and recall the large accumulations of wheat present in the mills.
All of the furniture chosen is eclectic and a large quantity of pieces (armchairs, sofas and base tables) have been designed and made to measure for the hotel. Certain remarkable pieces such as the Kangaroo armchair by Cassina, a tribute to Pierre Jeanneret, the Foli chaise longue by Heaps & Wood or the Superleggera chair by Gio Ponti, have been placed in strategic locations in order to provide a more contemporary side.
To organize the spaces in the lobby, a collection of large rugs with geometric shapes designed by the Giros et Coutelier agency were installed in the different spaces.
Amélie Du Chalard (Amélie Maison d'Art) supported and guided the duo of architects in the creation of an art collection specific to the hotel with the choice of artists and various works allowing the creation of a collection eclectic and coherent. Two large paintings by F.Heurlier Cimolai preside over the lobby and the entrance.
“La trattoria” is an Italian-inspired restaurant with a large veranda overlooking the garden and swimming pool.
Two large raw solid wood screens organize the space to create intimate areas.
A large structured Muttina Rombini ceramic wall serves as a background for presenting certain pieces from the collection.
Large pots with green plants and classic Verner Panton chairs in white and yellow give the whole thing a fresh and relaxed feel.
The rooms and suites are colorful and bright. Green and blue pastel tones on the walls mix with solid oak furniture and wickerwork elements to create a naive and festive atmosphere.
Colorful paintings by the artist Florence Denou are inspired by the local “bocage” to bring an artistic touch to the room.
