Hornbækhus is rebuilt, designed and decorated on the belief that being social brings joy and meaning to life - thus all the inviting colors and cozy spaces with soft furniture. The furniture, tapestry and painting are all chosen to help people engage in conversation. There is no reception at the hotel but a big table in front of a kitchen – this is where the guests are greeted by the staff.

Hornbækhus is a hotel which door are open for the hotel’s guests, neighbours and the locals.
It is a hotel where people can meet new people, share dinner, a yoga experience, play ping pong or meet around other activities. Every day all year round the hotel serve family style dinner at 19.00 – thus the long family-style tables.

Normally, when designing a hotel, you’d think about functionality—the guest should have a bedroom, should go downstairs to eat, probably from a buffet—but we think about it differently. We start with the mission, which is about being social. Hornbækhus is about people meeting and forming relationships.

The mission behind the interior design is to make space for people to meet. We believe that what makes life worth is the social ties we connect to each other - and with Hornbækhus Hotel we want to create a framework for just this.
