The garden is a spiritual place where the mind dwells. The constant change of the nature reveals life. It’s a spiritual luxury to escape the constant buzz that pervades from the city and enjoy a zen living daily in Hong Kong. This home is very privileged to have a front garden, back yard and a small meditation garden on the upper floor.
The front yard sets the scene for the whole house, while the floor pattern lead you to the main entrance, one must passes by the Buddha fish pond and a Zen Garden. The backyard is an outdoor dining area which also attaches to an organic farm, it is visually connected with Family room and the Dining room. The Meditation Garden is on the upper floor next to the Meditation room which located in between the Master bedroom and the Children bedroom. Both bedrooms are connected by a long semi-opened tatami corridor which also visually connected to the meditation garden.
Although the context is set in an urban area, the space actually offers plenty of fresh air, natural light and a captivating green view. Our idea is to merge the natural scenery outside with the interior. The boundary of inside / outside become blurred and the presence of different a light source, shadow, and natural scenery revitalizes connections between people and the nature in the urban setting.
