Ex Interiors has transformed a former warehouse and an existing office building into future-oriented working areas. Both entities have been given a completely unique character, where ‘hybrid working’ and being able to encounter each other at the office, combine very well.

Nedap Light Controls
The lighting plan has been the key starting point in the design. In collaboration with Studio Rublek, a few unique light line patterns have been developed above the office landscape. The fine balance between playfulness and appearance ensures that the structure is clearly present, without demanding all the attention. Adding natural daylight to the workplace was also a significant aspect.

Where the sleek office landscape has been made subservient to the lighting, the meeting areas have been given a warmer radiance by opting for an oak floor and large rugs with a marble look. Greenery has also been placed on the work and meeting boxes and between the work spaces, to haul the ‘outdoors’ indoors.

Nedap Retail
Just before the tendering phase, the coronavirus pandemic broke out across the globe. Because of this pandemic, Ex Interiors envisaged a shift to more sterile working environments. During the design process, the client's ardent wish for its look & feel, was to be at the forefront of the latest trends & developments in retail. Despite the advances in the design phase, it was opted to implement this switch at a record pace, with a stunning end result. A safe and clean office building with a fresh, welcoming and surprising look. This atmosphere can immediately be felt when entering the department.

Clients are welcomed at the lobby desk of a large open meeting square where ‘docking workstations’ and consultation areas have been created for staff. There is a concept store that exhibits the latest technological trends and, at the rear, it offers a glimpse of the meeting boxes, workstations and scrum areas. A second meeting square with a bar was designed further along, which also offers possibilities for presentations. This public area exudes an air of ‘technology’, with a combination of materials. A choice was also made to leave the building service systems in view to magnify the degree of ‘tech’.

The basis of the design was to create a village or shopping street, containing cottages or shops, each with its own identity: from a ‘gentleman's chamber’, ‘boardroom’, a room with a ‘walk on clouds’ carpet to an ‘urban jungle’. Due to the height of the structural ceiling, the “roofs” of some volumes have been made accessible to ensure that this space is not lost. All the greenery on the boxes enhances the ‘human touch’

The appearance that has come about for both market groups gives staff the space to be themselves, to develop and to work together, and it also encourages the sharing of knowledge. Nedap Light Controls and Nedap Retail have been given a future-oriented office.
