Located in Quliang, Zhengzhou, the project inherits Oriental, cultural and sensory aesthetics to present the magnificence of the Central Plains with regional culture and enrich emotional experience from the perspectives of five senses.
The spatial structure extracts the element of mortice and tenon joint from traditional Chinese architecture, deconstructs and reorganizes the original residence in a contemporary manner. Mixian county jade decorated with Kuiwen (pattern of deformed dragon), a unique element of Zhenwei Culture, is inset into each screen, which brings cultural significance to the space with a simple spatial interface. The towering screens in the negotiation area divide the space, ensuring privacy while creating a varying and elegant space. The crystal art installation features a heavy shower pouring down that outlines the “mountains” in varying density of parts. The lights look like raindrops to shine the whole space. In the deep and layered space, natural lighting becomes warmer and “more historical” when penetrating grilles. The hallway enjoys varying degrees of natural light, presenting a dynamic space. The project is decorated with patterns of ancient totem, making the traditional culture blend with modern civilization.
