The New York headquarters of Glossier furnish an antidote to urban density as well as to office-place monotony. The overall design is fine-tuned in every detail, yet minimally prescriptive, preserving expansive, open space everywhere possible.
A large open workspace, unassigned desks and modular furniture allow for ongoing flexibility and workplace variation. A block of dedicated team rooms forms the center of the full-floor headquarters, straddled by a pair of uninterrupted hallways, each spanning over two-hundred feet and terminating, at the northern and southern ends of the building, in soaring views of Manhattan.
The central block walls veer inward to form interior oases, with a sweeping curvature complemented by that of a series of custom furniture pieces. These interstitial spaces evoke landscape through their contained breadth, topographical variations, and moments of upsurging greenery. Their dynamic potential and formal motifs are further elaborated in an expansive, multipurpose lounge spanning the northern end of the headquarters. Here, massive, undulant custom sofas and banquettes encompass constellations of smaller, floating pieces, (including carefully curated vintage and contemporary designs).
Delicate chromatic treatments serve to both unify and vary the overall space of the headquarters: pale, optically subtle hues dominate where brand’s signature pink and red are applied strategically.
