Located in Gedian Economic and Technology Development Zone of Ezhou City, the project boasts 30 KM convenient transportation between Wuhan and Ezhou. Centered on ecological nature, art and humanity, and openness and sharing, it aims to create a dynamic block and 24-hour open and sharing public area by highlighting the artistic style, dignity and quality of the brownstone.
The design team manages create another building within the building so as to reshape the boundary of the interior space, providing a unique three-dimensional spatial feeling. Based on the theme of “memory”, the team breaks and reorganizes the mediums, such as light and shadow, time and memory, to vividly describe their emotions. Known as the "Chicago of the East", Wuhan has wharf culture that witnesses its development. In the past, the wharves in Wuhan were used for freight and shipping in the Yangtze River, but meanwhile they brought great clash between diverse cultures to the city. Inspired by the integration of history and future, we choose "Memory" as our design theme aiming to build an art museum where the light and shadow can remind visitors of Wuhan’s history. Thus, the building can tell the story of new and old, completeness and damage about history and future.
Coming from the outside world, visitors can embrace the yearning for a better life. Having gone through the ups and downs, travelers can get some rest here and start their journey again. Ground candlestick made of gradual oxidized brass represents welcome and seeing off. The new media art installation named Matter condenses into Light is inspired by nature, including the constantly changing mountain landscape, cascading mountains and light. The core of the installation is that maybe space can not give any constraints, but we an show the integration of light and matter so as to returning to nature.
Inspired by a scientific practice project by Argentine artist TOMAS SARACENO, the large-scale installation named Under the Atmosphere explores the integration of art and architecture, floating sculptures and interactive installations, and takes the environment as a collection of air and solar energy to explore new, sustainable ways of living and sense of the environment. The broken wall shows the trace of time, like an art work in the quiet space unleashing great power. A glance of it can reminds you of your certain moment in the past. Walnut wood, the classic seat made of corrected grain leather and the leather marble desk make visitors feel at home. Wall installation called the Breath of Home shows a warm home, implying a colorful, deep life experience. The article My Home, My Way by Ye Yilan says, “I always feel invariably happy at home." Yes. Home is a container of life and an ideal place for spiritual breath.
