This project was designed for Fun Factory, a well-known stand-up shows and comedy production company which is famous for "Saturday Night Live (SNL)", "ROAST" and "ROCK & ROAST” in China.

On top of that, it operates the largest and most pioneering stand-up comedy team in China. It locates at the central area of Shanghai. Since it is the first attempt to build the connection between offline and online resources, they treat it as a meaningful role, working as a brand-new commercial exploration of talk show culture and the establishment of a new comedy theater conceptual model.

As for the functional requirements, bring the culture of talk show and giving the performance to the mass would be the core content. At the same time, they also have the attributes of a small scene comedy theater, interviews, screening halls, exhibitions, retail and social venues, even though the area is only 100 square meters. In the theater design, corresponding scenes are preset for temporary site attributes and applications in various unknown scenes, which give the space a possibility for self-renewal.

Stand-up comedy performance would always be the main function in this design. they interviewed many other well-known actors in order to meet their environment requirements. They try to avoid as much interference factors that disturb performer and audience as possible, such as redundant light. At the same time, from a wider public perspective, they create a popular cultural product with affinity and interest.

The performance space is based on the concept of "round field", the center (stage) and part (audience) of the regular venue, and the special extension of the entrance and exit channels. It could solve the problem of light environment interference during the performance and provide the guidance to audience the off-site exhibitions, events, and retail areas before and after the performance.

The outside area of the theater always maintains good interaction and openness with the public area. An open communication space is formed at the edge of the venue and the bar in the middle island. Performance information is displayed in a conspicuous place in a rolling manner. They intentionally weaken the influence of the sound and the light which implied the popular attributes of the talk show comedy culture in terms of boundaries and emotions.
