A 600m2 space located in the new shopping center in the south of Mexico City, Artz Pedregal, proposes to rescue a roofed area open to large outdoor spaces within the shopping center as a large contained terrace that recalls the Mediterranean patios of southern Italy. The acces to that patio is located at the center of the enclosure, circumscribed by folding wooden and glass panels that delimit and frame both, the perimeter and the entrence to the space. Two large marble preparation bars at the center of the area create a natural interaction between the preparation of the food and the guests themselves. Both bars integrate circulations creating a route around them and directing the flow towards the diner area. In the background and upon the end of the acces, there’s a wall built with gray concrete bricks, that constitutes the integral essence of the space, the oven rises from the basement into the height of the enclosure imposing with its scale and brutalist character. The oven is fully displayed to diners, revealing the process of the artisanal elaboration of the main dishes of the menu. On the sides of the oven, two volumes are placed symmetrically with a steel structure and glass panels that protect a wide selection of wines. The diner’s area present an informal distribution with wooden tables in different formats and circular concrete tables that contrast with the oak paver floor.
