We designed the interior of 9 different apartment typologies and designed, produced and delivered over 5000 pieces of bespoke furniture specifically tailored to the emerging needs of shared urban living.
Using Japanese concepts of space [WA - space for deep focus & introspection, BA - shared space for collaboration and knowledge sharing, MA - the space between things with potential for spontaneous encounters] we designed a versatile environment with a modular sofa allowing flexible configurations to host different people with different living habits.
This flexibility also leaves blank space - room for interpretation - for the space to be adapted and used in ways we can’t foresee as needs evolve and residents come and go.
We utilized our patented production technology to design 15 bespoke products for the project on a short timescale, allowing the specific needs of shared living to be built directly into everything in the project, delivering the spacial concept without compromise.
