Studiofibre, the designer-makers known for designing workplaces for brands including The Net-A-Porter Group, created a global design language for pioneering fashion brand Farfetch in 2016. The network of international offices included a 38,000 square foot space HQ in Old Street, London EC1.
Fiona & Ian Livingston of Studiofibre analysed Farfetch’s unique DNA and identified two core elements: CRAFTSMANSHIP & CURATION.
These themes were woven their design narrative, taking the Farfetch brand from 2d to 3d by focusing on a mix of bespoke crafted fixtures, fittings and furniture and carefully curated statement pieces.
Bespoke crafted elements included: partitioning (meeting rooms), a theatre-staircase, oversized ‘double sided’ sofas, communal dining tables, slatted meeting booths, ‘button’ benches, shelving units, corian meeting tables, credenzas, ‘pixel’ screens, marble reception desk, and custom-made desks.
These custom elements were all designed by Studiofibre and made especially for Farfetch. Luxurious materials included Beech, Walnut and Bamboo, bringing warmth to the building’s concrete shell. Plywood was elevated to a luxury level to create the slatted meeting booths. The distinctive ‘sliced’ effect within the Farfetch logo influenced Studiofibre’s design of many of the pieces. A curated collection of statement furniture and art was selected to compliment the bespoke elements, creating an overall aesthetic of a highly contemporary cutting-edge art gallery
