As everything else around us, the concept of an optical shop has also changed. What used to be scientific has now become fashionable. Wearing spectacles or sunglasses was a technical need. Therefore all shops were designed hygienic. Clean cut. Usually all white. Boring. Considering that your face is the first/most eye catching part of your body your glasses have a distictive role in identifying your character. Eye-d suggests "why wear a mass brand, when you can purchase elusive designer glasses!" Creating a 'Rayban-free' shopping space, our design solution couldn't be anything common! It should be extraordinary, alternative, eye catching and funky. Creating a distinctive, never getting outdated but fashionable space, allowing different experiences each time was our goal. Like our usual approach to our designs; we came up with just a few simple, yet very strong design ideas and shaped the whole space within that framework. One of these ideas was the iron frame work and panels that create a multi purpose background, allowing easy arrangements for different needs, like showcasing glasses as well as art works. The other idea was to use a light, familiar, friendly element, something simple in form and size. We decided on cork yoga blocks and ended up hanging 550 of them. The key in working on a simple, ordinary material/idea is the details, how you interpret the idea and implement. Carefully solved details and high quality workmanships were our indispensables.
