Yellow Studio’s stage design was a representation of the resulting annual theme – ‘United by Music’ – symbolizing a world with arms wide open to Ukrainians. The stage, performers, audience and greenroom were connected via one 220-sq-m structure at the Liverpool Arena. Dynamic lighting in an evolving rainbow of colours developed curved sightlines that seemingly encompassed the arena in a larger-than-life embrace.

The visual impact was strengthened with graphic backdrop displays and reflective glossy black flooring. Eurovision’s seated audience was accommodated by a combination of intimate booths and bleachers encompassing standing visitors. What the design also exceled in is capitalizing on the intense emotionality of being in close quarters for live performance.

The result was nothing short of entertainment magic. Liverpool was chosen following a strong city bid process that examined facilities at the venue; the ability to accommodate thousands of visiting delegations, crew, fans and journalists; infrastructure; and the cultural offer of the Host City in reflecting Ukraine’s win in 2022.
