Located in South Jakarta, The Essence Darmawangsa is an upscale private apartment complex, built in the prestigious location of Kebayoran Baru. This project was originally 2 dwelling (privately owned) units, but the objective is to demolish, connect and transform them into 1 unit with a total area of 250 sqm. By reconfiguring the floorplan, the area is divided into 3 bedrooms with living room, dry pantry, and dining room area. The brief was to create a ‘masculine’ ambience with an artistic touch. Upon the entry, the space is beautifully connected with an open plan seating lounge, connecting the dry pantry and dining area on each side. The overall color palette exudes luxury with shades of grey complementing the element throughout the interior. As well as maximizing the views, the aim was also to create spaces to display artwork. Each element and aspect within the interior proportionally create form and a bold statement. Painting plays an important role in creating color throughout the interior. The layering of materials, a soft palette of greys with a red accent from Driade’s Mingx Chair also added a sense of color balance. Not to mention a totem sculpture; this reinterpretation of totem pole accentuates the eclectic ambience to the interior. This thoughtful spatial planning formed a consistent language to the interior, empowering open plan layout in maximizing natural light and elevated aesthetic to take shape throughout the dwelling.
