An Alternative Spatial Choreography

The new dance teaching brand named "ESPECIAL" positions itself as a boundary-free art laboratory. The design extensively employs industrial metal materials, from façade reconstruction and interior space to custom furniture, carrying out a spirit of uniqueness created through the free combination of elements like building blocks. Extending the concept of "street dance," the space is envisioned as a dance composed of smooth flows of movements. By utilizing pathways and visual "runways," the spatial units are connected, making the inorganic space pulse like it's electrically charged.

Transforming the essential corridor into a runway, this design reflects the brand's educational mentality of "leading with self-expression." From the entrance to the inner door, the corridor under the light-filmed ceiling resembles a runway. Glass is used for classroom partitions, and the horizontal cut lines of the window frames are designed in cobalt blue, subtly incorporating the brand's colors. The lines extend directly to the reception area, powerfully guiding the moving directions and hinting at the depth of the space. This design not only connects spatial units but also plays a role of coherence.

For both the interior and appearance, the design fully embodies the concept of "material as aesthetics". The originally classical-style building façade was transformed by spraying gray paint on the base wall and adding a semi-transparent layer constructed of angle steel and iron mesh, without extensive demolition. Inside, stainless steel folded plates, perforated mesh, and aluminum extrusions were used to assemble counters, long tables, and shelves. Soft curves were added to certain details, creating a rhythm through the repetition of industrial elements, reflecting the powerful movements of dance.

The second-floor space is installed with lightboxes, mirrors, and cut lines of lighting fixtures to create an illusion that blurs the boundaries of the ceiling, giving a technological feel of "floating". Considering operational convenience, the layout is flexible. The area next to the stairs combines circulation with social functions. The open space can connect to four classrooms simultaneously. Irregular spaces have been segmented into multifunctional classrooms suitable for one-on-one teaching, and two adjacent classrooms with movable partitions can be combined to form a large activity area.

The emphasis of this project is not just to rearrange the space but to establish the image of a new "brand." Beyond solving problems and meeting needs, it is crucial to clearly demonstrate the brand's spirit. From the space design heavily incorporating the brand's color hints and classroom backdrop walls with the brand's logo, to the eye-catching lightbox on the second floor with the slogan "Dare to be unique," the design subtly fosters brand recognition and achieves a deeply rooted and impactful promotion.
