Temporary Installation located in the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau (Barcelona), UNESCO World Heritage Site and Place of Cultural Interest, from the 10th March to the 5th April 2017.
The Sant Pau hospital, designed by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, is today one of the most representative architectural complex of the Catalan modernism. Our intervention was located in the Pavilion of the Antic Convent which is one of the vaulted spaces that’s still without reform inside the hospital.
Olympus makes an exhibition that was create a space, a photography playground for play with their cameras. The installation presents a multiplied reality of the vaulted space of the Sant Pau Hospital, transforming the space through the interplay of reflections.
The installation of a horizontal reflective surface of 80 square meters creates the sensation of weightlessness above the vaults, giving a thrilling sensation of floatability. The combination with similarly reflective vertical planes of 3 meters enhances the concept, transforming it into an infinite, levitating space.
This establishes a continuous interaction between users, the work and the building itself, making viewers interact with the space, and turning them into an active part of the work: their position within it, their movements, their reflections, their actions… progressively generate and create different dreamlike interior worlds.
