A private enclave in the verdant residential area of Jardin’s Lookout, this duplex offers a relaxed escape for a small family. The home has two distinct personalities serving as a warm, stylish family abode in the day and a sleek, sophisticated space for entertaining at night.

The private lift lobby serves as a prelude to the home. A delicate fabric laminated glass screen diffuses daylight into the space which features a bold green accent wall and a cosy burnt umber bench. Inside the elegant entranceway sits a vibrant glass cabinet inlaid with a graphic wallpaper, two plush armchairs and a small glass table.

Bathed in natural light, the open-plan living room opens up to a mountainous landscape through expansive ribbon windows. The luxurious interiors feature a combination of materials including wood, leather, marble and glass. Midnight shades of navy blue are woven throughout the home adding drama to spaces such as the karaoke lounge where a striking accent wall is wrapped with inky hued fabric with a tufted 3D geometric design.

In the adjacent dining area, the piece de resistance is a bespoke stainless steel chandelier made of a series of entangled circular rings encrusted with crystals. It hangs over a round walnut Giorgetti table with a leather base. In the background, light oak wall panelling and oak veneer columns create a warm, cocooning effect.

Meanwhile, a high gloss red mahogany feature wall dominates the main living room demarcating a distinctly masculine space not unlike a gentleman’s cigar lounge. Velvet blue arm chairs add a pop of colour to the neutral palette of the rest of the designer furnishings.

The private spaces of the home are housed upstairs. The stairwell is distinguished by metallic silver fabric wall panelling and an elongated sculptural light fixture overhead. Made of interlocking organic bronze forms, it looks more like an art installation than a chandelier. A lightly stuccoed wall adorned with an abstract painting at the landing creates a gallery-like environment. The area houses a small reading nook with bronze and wood bookshelves.

The master bedroom is outfitted in dark wood and fabrics in rich hues of brown, tan and beige. A back-lit black-and-white geometric accent wall adds a sense of exuberance and personality to the space. Ombre curtains and a bamboo silk floor rug with vivid blue tones complete the look. A sleek glass screen inlaid with fabric leads to the spacious dressing room with custom-made blue lacquer shelving accented with blue vinyl leather. This opens up to the spa-like master bathroom featuring wall-to-wall dark marble with dramatic veining.

In contrast, the second bedroom has a more serene subdued mood with upholstered fabric wall panels in beige, a silver-toned silk bamboo floor rug and bronze tinted glass pendant lights. From the two thoughtfully designed bedrooms to the minimalist communal spaces below, the apartment is a veritable oasis of calm and the perfect retreat from the city.
