The Diriyah Biennale is taking place in six industrial pavillions sitting on the edge of a breathtaking valley, created by a river which no longer exist.

In the Biennale compound, this environment was not visible neither fruible because it was obstructed by the pavillions itself. This was the first point of our project: to open the Biennale compound to the valley, subverting the hyerarchy between architectural volumes and environment. We thought that the most important take for all the Biennale's visitors, even before approaching the contemporary art, should be learning how to appreciate the Diriyah context, instead of being passively entertained.

Another important point of the project is the economy of the resources and materials. We did transform the six industrial warehouses into contemporary art gallery minimizing the usage of air conditioning, walls, platforms; less materials equal to less waste. We did remove insted of adding.

Last but not least, this openess allows porosity and freedom. We did display the artworks in a fluid trajectory with multiple access points, that is fundamentally free. The visitors are enabled to choose where to start, where to rest and where to contemplate, being part of a collective and personal creative journey.
