God made water, man made wine. Take water as the teacher, observe water and realize the Tao. DEW Lounge is inspired by the the philosophy of water and the figure of dewdrops. The idea is to present a “dew” within the concrete jungles we now live in. The philosophy of water is an important element to the design of the Lounge: Where there is water, there is rain; where there is rain, there leaves traces. Where there lights a lamp, there is man, and where there is wine, there is soul. The characteristics of water such as moistening, descending, and its flowability in particular are considered in the design of the architecture. Arcs and hyperbolic arcs are used to render a feeling of roundness and gives a sense of space. An abstract droplet figure is located at the gate, meant to represent the image of DEW. It symbolizes that when a dew falls, the water flows down and starts to root. An abstract circle in the form of flowing lines diverges toward the inmost wine cabinet, and gradually turns downward. The ceiling and the wine cabinet combine as an integration, along the radian and down. Both the front and the lateral facade look of the wine cabinet are in the shape of an arc. In order to give our guests a closer sense of being in real nature, we made a water curtain in the centre of the space with a fog device. Along with music and the sound of flowing water, we tend to create a misty and dreamy atmosphere. This shall reminds us of what Confucius said before the river, “The passage of time is just like the flow of water, which goes on day and night.” The use of water grain stainless steel and water-grained glass are connected to the core element — water. The concept of “water” is practiced again and again, either concrete or abstract, realistic or impressionistic, constantly changes its form in the spatial layout, yet always embraces the fundamental ideology. For instance, stainless steel in the shape of irregular lines are applied in the ceiling design, recombined with modern techniques, gives a refined and flowing aesthetic. Let’s walk in the rhythm of water. It is an integration of dynamic and static, firmness and softness. A unique image is formed as the movement of people interweaves with the design of the ceiling. The varying rhythm of water brings a fresh experience to our guests. Through the different forms of expression embracing the philosophy of water, the DEW Lounge provides the one-of-a-kind space where the busy elites can find relaxation.
