The brief was to design a restaurant expressing the brand values of the client De Bijenkorf; luxury, quality and creativity. Our goal was to create a restaurant where people can work, eat and meet. Due to the recent developments in retail, many large brands are forced to cut down investments. De Bijenkorf recently announced to invest on large scale with her ‘Premium Experience Strategy’ to give clients top service and shopping experience. In line with this strategy, i29 strived for a new definition of the kitchen concept expressing freshness and variety; a subtle reference to food in general, and the diversity of flavors presented in the open kitchen area. The layout reveals several spatial experiences throughout the 850 m2 open area, with a variety of seating. From private and cosy, towards more open and bright dining areas. The rough wood and plants are in contrast with the sharp glass partitions and all white ceilings. Brass details in lighting fixtures and flooring are matching to the yellow glass partitions. Fabrics are developed in custom colors to match within the overall material palette.
