The “Das Haus – Interiors on Stage” (German for “The House”) installation is a simulated residential house at the international interiors show imm cologne. It measures approximately 180 m² and is placed in the middle of the Pure Editions area of the trade fair, which is imm cologne’s platform for creative brands with visionary products and product concepts.
Accordingly, “Das Haus” is an experimental area and platform for contemporary interior design from around the world. It gives visitors the opportunity to see and experience current, up-to-the-minute home furnishings trends and is also a discussion of people’s desires and a reflection of social change.
Each year, the architecture, room structures, furnishings, materials, colours and light installations are all taken from the imagination of a newly nominated designer/design team/architect. And in producing their version of “Das Haus”, each designer finds their personal response to the question of how people might already be able to live today. Being the Guests of honor of the 8th “Das Haus”, the Australian designers Kate and Joel Booy demonstrated their understanding of design and their artistic sensitivity in their take on a residential home for the design event with a strong tradition.
