CUF provides healthcare with a multidisciplinary and integrative approach. However, despite operating as a network, until now, each space had its own image. The challenge of the project was to create a strong and innovative identity to be felt across the entire network. One of the first creative decisions was to define a hospital-like feel, opposed to the luxury and cosiness of a hotel. To this end, we created an aseptic environment, mostly in shades of white and grey with a splash of colour. The choice of contemporary furniture, and the design of “clean” but visually impactful signage, also add character to the site. It’s important to note that the majority of materials and furniture were locally sourced, sturdy and long-life products. CUF’s unique clinical model places the patient and those around them at its centre. With this in mind, we defined a functional colour-coded navigation system to allow the user to be self-sufficient through every step. Blue is the brand colour for CUF, used for ambulatory care. Orange was used for the emergency department. Yellow for internment. Green for oncology. Finally, always in our minds was the need to create an inclusive environment that would be comforting for everyone, from a child in paediatrics to an adult in oncology. So we analysed our public and adapted each zone to their needs. For example, natural wood chairs with armrests were a special touch for those with waiting room anxiety, while also aiding those with conditioned mobility.
