We do work under the same feeling from when we started 20 years ago, that spacial design should not be effected from time or trends. You will not see special curves or exaggerate use of materials in our design. We prefer to use universal materials, and to draw simple lines. In addition to this, We’ve always exhaustively looked for a way to incorporate the context and culture of the given site, and how to create a form out of the needed function. This project is a select shop project for a store that carries items from classical to contemporary and emerging clothing brands. The space was located along side a shopping arcade and previously occupied by another fashion store, then became a vacant tenant. The original ceiling of the store was 3.6 meters, but when we dismantled the ceiling, we found that it was a large space with a maximum ceiling height of 4.8 meters. We decided to create a plan that emphasized the given characteristics. A white stucco wall which was chosen as the base of the design and to also function as a backdrop to show the selected items, while a simple composition was kept throughout the overall atmosphere with V shaped hanger racks aligned from the ceiling. We thought that by making the hangers in a V-shape, and then arranging them in an orderly plan, the height of the space would be more emphasized, creating a unique feature of the store. Other elements located in the ceiling, such as line and spot lights, air conditioning, were carefully organized along with the layout of the hangers. Specifically, wiring ducts and line lighting are regularly embedded in ready-made duct rails to create an integrated design. The soft curved facade which leads from the arcade to the entrance, was kept white to coincide with the interior. Simultaneously, by maintaining a certain distance from the arcade, we succeeded in creating a strong impression for the visitors upon stepping into the store.
