Natural phenomena expressing the fusion of architecture and art Conrad Osaka is located at the Nakanoshima that is a rich area in cultural and artistic flavor and sandwiched between two rivers that are symbols of Osaka as a water metropolis. Furthermore it is on 200 meters above ground on the upper floor of Nakanoshima Festival Tower. The design concept of this hotel is a “villa in the sky.” The goal was to devise an environment that would offer guests a special experience and provide them with relaxing comfort atmosphere to a stay in a villa, while also enjoying the luxury of an urban hotel. Located on the upper floors of the building, we were consciously aware of how to best show Osaka’s commanding panoramic vista and how to make the most of the volume of space available. Since natural phenomena like light, wind, rain, and the stars are right at your fingertips, we embraced these natural phenomena in the theme, reflecting them in not only the interior design, but also the works of collaborating artists. Another feature of this project is that visitors can experience a sense of the locality of the building and its overlapping history.
